A TEACHERble Moment: The Misconception of Happiness

A TEACHERble Moment: The Misconception of Happiness

What’s a common misconception people have about happiness? They tried to sell me happiness today like it was sold out or on backorder.Exclusively available to the ones who have their life in order.I kept ordering a different version of myself I clearly could not afford.Somehow I could not restore. They told me that being happy had… Continue reading

Today’s TEACHERble Moment Happened 161 Years Ago

Today’s TEACHERble Moment Happened 161 Years Ago

161 years ago, on June 19, 1865, freedom finally rang out for over 250,000 African Americans still being held in slavery in Galveston, Texas. Even though slavery had already been declared illegal years earlier, word and enforcement hadn’t made it there yet. Truth be told, not everything changed overnight even after slavery was abolished, but… Continue reading

Today’s TEACHERble Moment: Not All Growth is Instant

Today’s TEACHERble Moment: Not All Growth is Instant

If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why? I’ve been sitting with today’s prompt for a minute because I could answer it in two ways. I could give the answer that sounds nice, or I could give the one that actually makes sense to me. I’m going with what makes… Continue reading

    A TEACHERble and Growable Moment

    A TEACHERble and Growable Moment

What is one way you have grown this year? This year I learned to prune what once felt like me. To stop watering worries and just let them drift out to the furthest corner of the sea. I decided that I would make a deal and trade old doubts for a steadier seed, and I… Continue reading

A TEACHERble Moment to My Twenty-Year-Old Self

A TEACHERble Moment to My Twenty-Year-Old Self

What is something you wish you could tell your 20-year-old self? You were lesson-planning a lifeyou had not lived yet, writing goals in pen like you would never use or need an eraser. You graded your future too early, marked yourself wrongfor answers you had not learned.Life was the syllabusfull of pop quizzesyou did not quite study… Continue reading

About Me

My name is Erykah Gray, though many know me as Miss Gray. I’m from Centreville, a small town in southern Mississippi that will always feel like home. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and later completed a Master of Arts in Literature at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I am now continuing my journey as a doctoral student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

I believe learning is a lifelong journey that continues to shape who we are. Teaching is not simply what I do; it is part of who I am. I am passionate about speaking, writing, and creating spaces where voices can be found and valued. In my classroom, each day holds new possibility as I guide students to grow into confident, curious thinkers ready to step into the world with purpose.

Through this space, I hope to share that same sense of inspiration beyond the classroom walls
